Tintype Portrait Events 2025

Outdoor tintypes in Riverwest, Milwaukee

Bookings open for November and December

Reservations required - BOOK ONLINE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have your tintype portrait made using the 1850s wet plate collodion process, one of the earliest forms of photography. This hands-on, all-analog method uses metal plates, antique cameras, and a mobile darkroom to create a one-of-a-kind image you can watch appear before your eyes.
These private outdoor sessions will take place in my backyard studio in Riverwest, Milwaukee. Address will be provided at booking.
Tintype pricing:
  • $115 per 5"x7" sized plate
  • $85 per 4”x5” sized plate
  • Your two-hour session will allow enough time to shoot up to 3-4 tintypes.
Cash, PayPal, and Venmo are accepted for payment.
$10 from every 5x7 and $5 from every 4x5 tintype sold is donated to Kinship Community Food Center
Other important information, please read:
  • A $25 deposit is required to hold your appointment. One week's notice is requested for cancellations.
  • Your tintype will be varnished after the session and mailed to you within 2 weeks or dropped off if you are local to Milwaukee. If you choose to have high-resolution scans added, please allow an additional 1-2 weeks for processing.
  • Due to limitations with my camera, I can only accommodate portraits of up to 5-6 people maximum (no large groups).
  • Tintypes require longer exposures of 2-10 seconds, so it's very tricky to get good pictures of young children and babies. Please see my website's FAQ page for info on this.
  • This is an outdoor session and weather-dependent. In the event of heavy rain, strong wind, or especially dark skies, we will need to reschedule your session. Thank you for understanding!
Please check out my website's FAQ page to prepare for your tintype session and email me at aascher2004@gmail.com if you have any other questions before your session.
